A “slow” itinerary through enchanting villages, places rich in centuries-old traditions, and landscapes filled with flavors and colors. Follow the ancient Roman roads across beautiful countryside and rolling hills, discovering the heart and soul of Umbria.

Day 1 – Arrival in Perugia
Arrival in Perugia, hotel check-in, and in the afternoon, guided tour of the historic center of the regional capital. Surrounded by Etruscan walls and a delightful medieval core, Perugia offers a fascinating blend of history and charm. The best-known area is enclosed by two sets of walls: the outer medieval ring, featuring impressive gates such as Porta Sant’Angelo, and the inner Etruscan circuit, built with massive stone blocks.
In the evening, welcome dinner in “Corciano”, a picturesque medieval village nestled among the hills surrounding Perugia. Overnight stay.

Day 2 – Signature Villages of Umbria
We will travel along the “Sagrantino Wine Route”, named after the renowned red wine that made Umbria famous among wine lovers worldwide. Our first stop is Bevagna, one of the most beautiful villages in Umbria, known for its medieval festival, the “Mercato delle Gaite”, dedicated to traditional crafts and trades. Encircled by perfectly preserved walls, Bevagna still retains its Roman layout and authentic charm.
We continue to Montefalco, listed among “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy”, known as the “Balcony of Umbria” for its breathtaking panoramas. Famous for its fine “Sagrantino di Montefalco wine” and its exceptional “extra-virgin olive oil”, the town perfectly embodies the region’s culinary excellence.
After lunch at leisure, we proceed to Foligno, home to the “Giostra della Quintana” and to the first printed edition of Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. We will stroll through Piazza della Repubblica, admire the Cathedral of San Feliciano, and visit the historic Palazzo Orfini, before heading to the Campo dei Giochi.
Our final stop will be Spello, a romantic hilltop village known for its flower-filled alleys and the world-famous “Infiorata del Corpus Domini”, held every May and June. Return to Perugia in the evening. Overnight stay.

Day 3 – Spoleto and Norcia
Breakfast and departure for Spoleto, often described as the most romantic of Umbria’s cities. Once the capital of the Lombard Duchy, Spoleto is renowned for its rich artistic heritage and for hosting the “Festival dei Due Mondi”, one of Europe’s most prestigious cultural events. For those unafraid of heights, we will cross the “Ponte delle Torri”, an awe-inspiring 230-meter-long, 82-meter-high bridge connecting the fortress and Mount Monteluco.
After free time for lunch, we continue towards Norcia, birthplace of Saint Benedict and set among the rolling Sibillini Mountains. Between May and July, the surrounding plains bloom with vibrant colors. In the afternoon, visit to a local farmhouse for a “tasting of Norcia’s specialties”: prosciutto, truffles, pecorino cheese, wild boar, and lentils from nearby Castelluccio. Return to Perugia in the evening. Overnight stay.

Day 4 – Assisi and Santa Maria degli Angeli
Today is dedicated to “Assisi”, built on the slopes of Mount Subasio and one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world. The tour begins with a visit to the “Basilica of Saint Francis”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of medieval art, featuring frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue, and the Lorenzetti brothers.
We will then explore the historic center, including Piazza del Comune and the perfectly preserved “Temple of Minerva”, dating back to the 1st century BC. Later, we will reach “Santa Maria degli Angeli”, just outside the city walls, to visit the Basilica that houses the “Porziuncola”, the small chapel where Saint Francis lived and prayed, and the “Chapel of the Transito”, where he composed the “Canticle of the Creatures” and died in 1226. The site also features the famous rose garden and the Porziuncola Museum.
Return to Perugia for the evening and enjoy a final stroll through the historic center. Overnight stay.

Day 5 – From Perugia to Todi and Orvieto, then return to Perugia
Departure along the ancient “Via Amerina” towards Todi, a charming hilltop town with a magical skyline. After a walk through its main square, we continue to Orvieto, one of Italy’s oldest cities, originally founded by the Etruscans.
Reaching the upper town via the funicular, we will admire the magnificent Cathedral of Orvieto, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic art begun in 1290. Nearby, we visit the “Well of Saint Patrick”, an extraordinary feat of 16th-century engineering designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. Two separate spiral staircases wind 62 meters deep, illuminated by 72 windows, creating a breathtaking effect.
For those interested, a visit to “Orvieto Underground” will reveal the city’s hidden world of ancient caves and tunnels dating back to the 9th century BC. Before leaving, we will have time to wander through the town’s charming streets filled with artisan shops, cafés, and stunning views.
Return to Perugia in the late afternoon. Overnight stay.

Breakfast and end of services.
On request, the tour may continue to Florence or Rome instead of returning to Perugia.
